Setting Baby Sleep Expectations in the real World

Pretty much all parents look forward to the moment your little one has his or her nap. A little mummy and daddy time at last....

Non-stop interruption to your own sleep patterns is not good for you and very exhausting. So when your little one decides to have a little nap, now is the time to catch up on those precious little moments. Find your favorite chair, settee or even your own bed and catch up for a few minutes (hours if you are lucky). Sleep is important to your general well being and we suggest trying to get as much as possible.

With regards to baby, below are some pointers that can help you at least know what to expect. Please be aware that all babies are unique, so what works for one baby or the behavior of one baby may not be the same for your baby.

Here is what is in store for you:

• ·       -  Months one and two baby could sleep anywhere between ten and eighteen hours a day. This could be for a block of hours or maybe an hour at a time. Usually this is not all in the night unfortunately!
• ·        -  Usually around months three to eleven, two to four little sleeps for anywhere between thirty minutes to a hour or two is typical.
• ·         - Nine months you can typically expect most babies to sleep through the night.
• ·         - Years one to three gets easier in terms of baby sleep. Maybe reaching twelve to fourteen hours per twenty four hours.  Your little one will still take little naps to keep him or her going. Try to avoid putting baby down later in the day as this will start to have an effect on their overnight sleeping pattern.

All little ones are different with some managing on more sleep, others managing on less sleep.  If in any doubt, and as always, seek medical help if you are not sure.

Your little one needs sleep and so do you, so it makes sense to do all you can to achieve this. Here are a few bullet points that cover baby sleep that I hope will help.

• ·          Make sure the room is not too light. Consider thicker curtains or maybe even blackouts to dim the room.
• ·          Ensure the room is quiet. Turn the radio or TV down and be mindful of how loud your or your visitors talk.
• ·          Ensure the room temperature is comfortable to sleep in. Some people suggest between between 68 and 72 is a good range for baby sleep

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow might be happy to receive a baby gift hamper soon as there are rumours she is planning for another baby.

According to showbizspy.com, Paltrow believes raising another child could help save her marriage to Chris Martin.

The news outlet suggested the couples' busy schedule has had adverse affects on their relationship.

An insider told the website: "Gwyneth is desperate for her marriage to survive and she thinks having another child will solve all of their problems."

The pair already have a baby daughter named Apple, who was born in 2004.

Martin is apparently unhappy with the amount of time that his wife is spending away from the family with her numerous other projects.

Model Danielle Lloyd recently told Reveal magazine that she and her Premiership footballer boyfriend Jamie O'Hara are expecting a baby boy on July 25th - the first chid to be conceived by the celebrity couple. 

Britain's smallest mum - Baby Hamper

I wonder if Britain's smallest mummy would welcome a baby gift hamper ?

A baby gift hamper may be the ideal gift for Britain's smallest mother.

It was reported recently that Amanda Moore, 25, has enjoyed watching her son Aidan grow up to be almost as tall as her. The infant was delivered by caesarean section last year and now stands at 2ft 6ins. Ms Moore suffers from a rare bone disease that has left her measuring in at 3ft 1ins and believes her child will soon be bigger than her.

She hopes that he might grow as tall as Aidan's father, Steven Fyfe, who is 6ft 1ins.

"Most boys are bigger than their mums but not after a year. He'll always be my little boy," she said.

Ms Moore was born with 14 broken bones and feared she may never have children because of her small frame.

It was recently reported that Harry Crossland became the heaviest birth since records began at Doncaster Royal Infirmary as he tipped the scales at 13lb 15oz.

Forever Friends

Forever Friends…a brief history of the bear

It was in 1987, that the artist Deborah Jones pulled out her sketchbook one day and drew the a little bear that would go onto be a very famous indeed !  At the time Deborah then spoke to a greeting cards publisher who agreed to release the forever friends bear design onto a card.

Deborah wanted to develop the Forever friend’s teddy so that it not only would be of interest to children, but also to adults. The idea of the Forever friends bear actually came from a TV show called Brideshead Revisited which was on ITV in 1981. There was a character in this show called Sebastian and he carried a bear around with him……

The Forever Friends bear came under trademark in 1989 and in 1994 was purchased by Hallmark cards.

In 1997 another versionof Forever Friends appeared, called Between Friends which aimed mainly at cards for children. This was then followed up quite quickly in 2000 by a design called Blanc. Forever Friends ‘Blanc’ was a simple plain pencil design on a white card aiming at older people….or the more mature market as they say… This happened to be the last design set Deborah would worked on, as she then went on to retired.

In 2005, Forever Friends was relaunched with a water colour based look, textured paper on cards and a more modern font. As the 2000’s rolled on, a wide variety of other products started to see the Forever Friends design appear, including a baby bedding range called ‘Forever Friends beautiful’ and also another baby bedding range called ‘Forever Friends Little Star’,  that can be seen here at 4little1s.com. Both of the Forever Friends baby bedding ranges include a full matching set of items such as Cot bumper, curtains sheets, quilts and even matching nursery thingies like matching cushions.
