Actinic

Actinic case study

4little1s.com the online baby bedding and nursery furniture retailer decided to use Actinic after a recommendation from another company already using the software and a 30 day FREE trial.

Once the idea had been hatched to form 4little1s and our sales channel being the Internet, we looked at a number of software solutions ranging from a system that assumed you were some kind of highly technical software developer, right through to a fully hosted solution that was completely hands off and only needed us to tell the company what we wanted and it was done. Clearly there were considerations of each to take into account, such as the idea of being hands off in terms of the technology was somewhat appealing as it would allow us to concentrate on the business rather than the technology, it was expensive and we didn’t really have control.

The best example of this being to upload products and add special offers etc would involve a cost each time and we envisaged these costs could spiral out of control OR make us reluctant to change content due to cost implications.

At the other end of the scale, we didn’t want to be immersed with the technology and having to virtually be software developers for our website.

Enter Actinic……we evaluated Actinic after being recommended it as a good solution for our business in terms of not needing to be a full blown developer to manage the site and at the same extent we could outsource some of the design and other elements of the website.

The 30 day evaluation from their website was a great introduction to the software and literally within minutes we had a test website with content! The templates that were available were great and had everything from a fun style and look, right through to a more formal corporate style.

One of the benefits (and not like some of the other products we evaluated), if after the 30 days had expired and you wanted to buy the product you could keep the website you had set up and put the hard work into and you simply needed to add the key to make the product live.

While we did have the website designed for us eventually these were kept at a minimum due to the flexibility of the product and allowed us to concentrate on getting the business going.

We have been recently in contact with a number of SEO companies that specialise in optimising our website and we have been going from strength to strength.

‘Having been trading for over a year now and making a profit, Actinic has been a major part of the success of 4little1s.com’ said Christianne James, Sales and Marketing Director.

We are currently selling two nursery furniture sets a month which are around £900 each and roughly 30 – 40 bedding sets per month at an average price of £90 per set.
