Kitting out your nursery

Kitting out your nursery for baby

Having decided on what theme your nursery is going to take, and deciding on budget (inexpensive nursery furniture, quality nursery furniture, blue nursery furniture etc etc and so on...) there are some great ideas that are very simple and obvious when you think about it, that can enhance the room very easily and cost effectively.

Take wall art for example, simple, straight forward prints that need not cost the earth, make such a difference without any hassle at all. Even better, if the prints match the nursery furniture theme or baby bedding theme...even better. The Humphrey's Corner range is a really good example of this and I have detailed below a few examples where for not much money at all, you can have coordinated wall art.

Lottie Fairy Princess wall art is great value and has two pictures of Lottie (Humphrey's Corner) that go really well with most pink baby bedding, but especially with the Lottie Fairy Princess cot bedding bales. These pictures are prints and are called Three Wishes and Magic stars with dimensions of roughly 34 x 21 cm.

This is an excellent example of something so easy and cost effective, having such a major impact on the whole feel of a room.

Little Red car canvass from the Humphrey's corner range is another good example of coordinating themes for your nursery. These pictures are easy to put up and make such a difference to a room. While not big, they come in at approximately 34 x 21 cm they will bring out the blue in the room especially if you have blue bedding. These pictures show Humphrey washing his car and being out and about having fun. Easy, simple and maximum effect to a room.....great value as well !

In some cases and if budget allows, there are even original Humphrey prints available that has original designs and sketches.

Decorative pillows are another good accessory worth considering for the nursery or children's room. Again, like the pictures above, you can buy pillows that bring out the theme in the room. By that, I mean coordinating the design and colours with that of your nursery furniture or bedding. Good examples of this being the Little red car pillows, or the Lottie Fairy Princess cushions such as heart or even tooth. These pillows can be scattered around the room and add those finishing touches you were looking for.

Soft toys always look good when sitting up on shelves or on the bed. Lovable characters such as Humphrey, Lottie, Forever friends or even something a little more unusual like Deglingos always brings an eye to them. Of course they are also very cuddly and in the case of Vincent bear for example, has had sooooooo many hugs, one of his ears has even fallen off !

Don't forget reading books, again, if you hunt around you can find coordinating books that fit in with the bedding. A couple of books that spring to mind are the Humphrey's corner pop up flap books (you can find these on our website), lots of bright colours and bits that open up. They will keep your baby or toddler interested.

Finally, mobiles, bookends and wooden toys all can help coordinate your little ones room to maximum effect but at a cost effective price. Traditional wooden push along toys with bright colours have always been an old favourite of mine, especially the ones that make the clacking noise (wood on wood) as they are pushed. Again, simple, bright and colourful design, all at a great price for little ones nursery.
